Language code
A language code is a code that assigns letters or numbers as identifiers for languages. Often used language codes include those of ISO 639, particularly ISO 639-1 and ISO 639-2Internet standards commonly use IETF language tags, which are based on ISO 639.Formerly common were the old SIL codes, but these are obsolete now that SIL uses ISO 639-3.As an example, French has the code fr in ISO 639-1, fra in ISO 639-2/T and ISO 639-3, fre in ISO 639-2/B, and FRN in old SIL.
