landlocked

A landlocked country is commonly defined as one enclosed or nearly enclosed by land. As of 2007, there are 43 landlocked countries in the world. A sea that is almost landlocked is connected to the oceans by a strait only, such as the Baltic Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Black Sea. This may be of strategic importance, with one or two other countries controlling the entrance, and/or be relevant for tides and freshwater content.An island country can be conversely considered waterlocked as it is entirely surrounded by water. In such cases, one must cross water to reach land abroad.

Un pays sans accès à la mer est un pays entouré d'autres pays et qui n'a pas de littoral, donc pas de contact avec une mer ou un océan. En 2007, il y avait 43 pays dans le monde qui n'avaient pas accès à la mer.

Als Binnenstaat wird jedes Land bezeichnet, das keine direkte Verbindung zu einem Meer hat. Binnenseen wie etwa das Kaspische Meer werden dabei nicht berücksichtigt.Weltweit gibt es 43 Binnenstaaten, von denen zwei – Liechtenstein und Usbekistan – ausschließlich von anderen Binnenstaaten umgeben sind. 30 von ihnen werden zu den Entwicklungsländern (Landlocked Developing Countries und Least developed country) oder den Schwellenländern (Developing Countries) gezählt. Neun der zwölf laut Human Development Index am wenigsten entwickelten Länder sind Binnenstaaten.

Państwo śródlądowe – państwo nie posiadające dostępu do morza, a tym samym nie posiadające własnej linii brzegowej. Państwami śródlądowymi są przykładowo wszystkie państwa-enklawy. Położenie śródlądowe uważane jest za położenie niekorzystne dla państwa. Brak dostępu do morza odcina państwo od zasobów morskich, przede wszystkim możliwości rybołówstwa, a także od transportu i handlu morskiego.

内陸国（ないりくこく）とは、周りが陸の国境に囲まれ、海がない国のことである。世界には43の内陸国がある（内陸国一覧を参照）。アフガニスタンやスイス、モンゴルやジンバブエなどは内陸国である。内陸国と対照的な国は島国（周囲が水に囲まれる国）である。
