1) Any locality either on land, water, or structures, including airports/heliports and intermediate landing fields, which is used, or intended to be used, for the landing and takeoff of aircraft whether or not facilities are provided for the shelter, servicing, or for receiving or discharging passengers or cargo. 2) That part of a movement area intended for the landing or takeoff of aircraft. (FAA4)

1. The part of the objective area within which are conducted the landing operations of an amphibious force. It includes the beach, the approaches to the beach, the transport areas, the fire support areas, the air occupied by close supporting aircraft, and the land included in the advance inland to the initial objective. Also called "amphibious assault area". 2. The general area used for landing troops and matériel either by airdrop or air landing. Also called "amphibious assault area". 3.
