In the Mediterranean Basin and the Near East, a kiosk (Persian کوشک Kushk; Turkish Köşk; French Kiosque;  German Kiosk; Portuguese Quiosque; Romanian Chioşc; and Spanish Quiosco or kiosco) is a small, separated garden pavilion open on some or all sides. Kiosks were common in Persia, India, and in the Ottoman Empire from the 13th century onward. Today, there are many kiosks in and around the Topkapı Palace in Istanbul, and they are still a relatively common sight in Greece. Turkish kiosks are usually polygonal.

Les kiosques se répandirent en Perse, en Inde et dans l'Empire Ottoman à partir du . , il y a de nombreux kiosques à l'intérieur et à proximité du palais de Topkapi à Istanboul, et ils sont encore fréquents en Grèce. Les kiosques turcs sont généralement polygonaux.

Ein Kiosk (maskulin der Kiosk, Plural die Kioske, vor dem 18. Jahrhundert entlehnt über französisch kiosque von türkisch kösk, aus mittelpersisch koschk) war ursprünglich ein nach mehreren Seiten geöffneter, freistehender Lustpavillon. Heute wird darunter gemäß einer im 19. Jh. ins Deutsche übernommenen Zweitbedeutung ein Verkaufsstand für Zeitungen und anderes verstanden, während die ursprüngliche Bedeutung noch in der Fachsprache der Architektur und Landschaftsarchitektur geläufig geblieben ist.

Onder kiosk wordt meestal een kleine, vrijstaande winkel verstaan waar men diverse producten kan kopen.Een kiosk (uit het Perzisch (کوشک) Kushk, via Turks köşk; Frans kiosque) is al een bekend fenomeen sinds de 13e eeuw in Perzië, India en het Ottomaanse Rijk. Het waren oorspronkelijk tuinpaviljoens die aan alle zijden open waren. In de 18e eeuw werd de kiosk door Turkse invloed ook gemeengoed in Europa.
