katharévousa

Katharevousa (, ) is a form of the Greek language, set in motion during the early 19th century by greek intellectual and revolutionary leader Adamantios Korais (1748-1833). A graduate of the University of Montpellier in 1788, Korais spent most of his life as an expatriate in Paris. Being a classical scholar, he was repelled by the Byzantine influence in Greek society and was a fierce critic of the ignorance of the clergy and their subservience to the Ottoman Empire. He held that education was a precursor to Greek liberation.

Die heute als Katharevousa (Καθαρεύουσα „Die Reine [Sprache]“) bezeichnete Form des Griechischen wurde im 19. Jahrhundert zunächst auf Basis der griechischen Volkssprache, später eher nach dem Ideal des klassischen Attisch entwickelt, da man die Notwendigkeit einer modernen Staats- und Bildungssprache feststellte und die gesprochene Volkssprache für die Zwecke des neu zu gründenden griechischen Staates nicht als ausreichend erachtete.

Katharewusa (gr. Καθαρεύουσα - "greka oczyszczona") - odmiana języka greckiego stworzona na początku XIX wieku przez językoznawcę Adamandiosa Koraisa. Korais, biegły w językach klasycznych starożytności, uważał, że język grecki należy oczyścić z naleciałości, narosłych przez wieki osmańskiej niewoli. Opracował więc język pozbawiony zapożyczeń i luźno nawiązujący do greki klasycznej formami gramatycznymi. Był to jednak język sztuczny, trudno zrozumiały dla Greków, którzy na co dzień posługiwali się odmianą dimotiki. Katharewusa była jednak przez 140 lat istnienia niepodległej Grecji językiem oficjalnym tego kraju - posługiwano się nią w urzędowych dokumentach, w wiadomościach i polityce. Nauczano go też w szkołach.

La katharevousa (in greco Καθαρεύουσα, IPA: [kaθaˈre̞vuˌsa]) è stata una variante artificiale pianificata naturalistica, arcaicizzante e purista, della lingua greca creata agli inizi del XIX secolo da Adamantios Korais (1748-1833) e utilizzata, come lingua ufficiale, dalla Grecia fino al 1976.La katharevousa mirava a eliminare o minimizzare le variazioni che aveva subito la lingua greca nel  periodo bizantino e, successivamente, sotto la dominazione ottomana, e a cercare di ricreare una forma, adeguatamente modernizzata, di greco antico  ripristinando sia termini che strutture grammaticali arcaiche.
