Jahiliyyah
Jahiliyyah ( / "") is an Islamic concept of "ignorance of divine guidance" or "the state of ignorance of the guidance from God" or "Days of Ignorance" referring to the condition in which Arabs found themselves in pre-Islamic Arabia, i.e. prior to the revelation of the Quran to Muhammad. The root of the term jahiliyyah is the I-form verb yajhalu "to be ignorant or stupid, to act stupidly". By extension, it has come to refer to the state of anyone not following Islam and the Quran.

Dschahiliyya
al-Dschahiliyya bezeichnet man im islamischen die Zeit vor der Offenbarung Mohammeds. Im europäischen Sprachgebrauch spricht man von der „vorislamischen Zeit“. Gelegentlich wird der Begriff auch auf die Alte Welt vor dem Islam ausgedehnt. Das Wort ist ein aus dem Partizip Aktiv abgeleitetes Abstraktum, das Ignaz Goldziher als „Barbar“, „Ungestüm“, und die „vorislamische Zeit“ als die „Zeit der Barbarei“ versteht.

Jahiliya
Jahiliya eller jahiliyyah, arabiska جاهلية, är ett uttryck som används om tiden före islam och före Koranens uppenbarelse som även beskrivs som ”okunnighetens tid”. Uppenbarelsen av Koranen till profeten Muhammed är en grundläggande händelse för islam då den separerar tiden före islam, känd som jahiliya, från den islamiska eran. Jahiliya kan i enkelhet beskrivas som att inte följa den ende Guden, och därmed islam och Koranen. Det är dock viktigt att poängtera att jahiliya inte är en person.

Dzahilijja
Dżahilijja (arab. جاهلية) - w islamie, termin określający okres w historii ludów arabskich przed pojawieniem się islamu.
Dosłownie dżahilijja oznacza "czas nieświadomości, ciemnoty". Wiadomości o kulturze i religii Arabów z tego okresu zawarte są w źródłach asyryjskich, greckich i rzymskich, a także w Biblii i Koranie.
Arabowie prawdopodobnie nie stworzyli harmonijnego systemu mitologicznego w okresie przed Mahometem. Najważniejszym źródłem traktującym o bóstwach staroarabskich jest Żywot wysłannika Boga (Sirat Rasul Allah), autorstwa Ibn Hiszama. Wymienini są tam bogowie Al-Wadd, Al-Kajs, Al-Uzza, Al-Lat i inni. Charakterystyczny dla Arabów był kult wielkich głazów. Już na wiele wieków przed islamem Arabowie pielgrzymowali do świątyni Al-Kaaba, by czcić tamtejszy Czarny Kamień.
