Infrastructure
Infrastructure is generally structural elements that provide the framework supporting an entire structure. The term has diverse meanings in different fields, but is perhaps most widely understood to refer to roads, airports, and utilities. These various elements may collectively be termed civil infrastructure,
municipal infrastructure, or simply
public works, although they may be developed and operated as
private-sector or government enterprises. In other applications, infrastructure may refer to
information technology, informal and formal channels of communication, software development tools, political and
social networks, beliefs held by members of particular groups. Still underlying these more general uses is the concept that infrastructure provides organizing structure and support for the system or organization it serves, whether it is a
city, a
nation, or a
corporation. Economically infrastructure could be seen to be the structural elements of an economy which allow for production of goods and services without themselves being part of the production process. e.g. roads allows the transport of raw materials and finished products.

struttura funzionante per uno scopo preciso.Il termine può essere considerato un po' astratto poiché è facile considerare ogni oggetto, anche di uso comune, come facente parte di una infrastruttura più ampia, viene però comunemente usato in alcuni campi specifici come ad esempio:infrastruttura in
ingegneria è uno degli elementi o l'insieme degli elementi che vanno a strutturare un
ambiente costruito per adeguarlo a particolari esigenze dell'uomo. Specificatamente nei
trasporti è l'insieme di
strade,
autostrade,
ferrovie e
canali, cioè tutto quello che consente di poter far muovere
passeggeri e
merci da una località all'altra. Sono infrastrutture anche le opere a rete per il trasporto dei materiali energetici, (
oleodotti,
gasdotti,
elettrodotti), di comunicazione (
rete telefonica,
rete televisiva, rete radiofonica), vitali (
acquedotti), di scarico (
fognature). Energia, trasporti e telecomunicazioni sono chiamati "servizi primari", intendendo che una loro accessibilità a basso costo è necessaria per la crescita dell'economia. Solitamente le relative opere infrastrutturali nascono di proprietà statale perché sono costruite nei decenni usando le tasse di tutti i contribuenti.infrastruttura
