The Illinois Music Educators Association (IMEA) is a state-funded professional organization aiming to promote and provide leadership for music education in Illinois. IMEA gathers students from around the state to perform in regional and state-wide music groups.Students audition to perform in an IMEA ensemble within one of nine districts, and may re-audition to participate in a state-wide IMEA ensemble. Any orchestra or band instrument or voice part can be used in an audition. Musicians must participate in their school music program. Even if an audition is successful, they will be thrown out if this is not the case.
