Uma iluminura era um tipo de desenho decorativo, frequentemente empreendido nas letras capitulares que iniciam capítulos em determinados livros, especialmente os produzidos nos conventos e abadias medievais. Foi considerada um ofício bastante importante no contexto da arte medieval, constando de grande parte dos livros produzidos durante a Idade Média.
