冰山
冰山是一块大若山川的冰，脱离了冰川或冰架，在海洋里自由漂流。因為冰山多為密度較低的純水而海水密度相對較高，導致冰山約有90%體積沈在海水表面下，看着浮在水面上的形状并猜不出水下的形状。這也為何有冰山一角一說來形容嚴重的問題呈現在表面的一小部分。冰山非常结实，很容易损坏金属板，因此为海洋运输中的极端危险因素。最著名的冰山遇险船是1912年的巨轮泰坦尼克号。
