Hydrogen ion
Hydrogen ion is recommended by IUPAC as a general term for all ions of hydrogen and its isotopes. Depending on the charge of the ion, two different classes can be distinguished:Cation (positively charged) When hydrogen loses its electron, the following cations can be formed:Hydron: general name referring to the positive ion of any hydrogen isotope (H+)Proton: 1H+Deuteron: 2H+, D+Triton: 3H+, T+

Hydrogen
Hydrogen (IPA: , is a chemical element represented by the symbol H and an atomic number of 1. At standard temperature and pressure it is a colorless, odorless, nonmetallic, tasteless, highly flammable diatomic gas (H2). With an atomic mass of 1.00794 g/mol, hydrogen is the lightest element.Hydrogen is the most abundant of the chemical elements, constituting roughly 75% of the universe's elemental mass. Stars in the main sequence are mainly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state. Elemental hydrogen is relatively rare on Earth, and is industrially produced from hydrocarbons such as methane, after which most elemental hydrogen is used "captively" (meaning locally at the production site), with the largest markets about equally divided between fossil fuel upgrading (e.g., hydrocracking) and in ammonia production (mostly for the fertilizer market). Hydrogen may be produced from water using the process of electrolysis, but this process is presently significantly more expensive commercially than hydrogen production from natural gas.

Hydrogen atom
Atomic hydrogen redirects here. For the method of welding, see Atomic hydrogen welding. A hydrogen atom is an atom of the chemical element hydrogen. It is composed of a single negatively-charged electron circling a single positively-charged nucleus of the hydrogen atom. The nucleus of hydrogen consists of only a single proton (in the case of hydrogen-1 or protium; see box at right), or it may also include one or more neutrons (giving deuteriumtritium, and other isotopes). The electron is bound to the nucleus by the Coulomb force. This article is primarily about Hydrogen-1, also known as protium or "light hydrogen", which is the primary component of natural hydrogen.

Hydronium
In chemistry, hydronium is the common name for the cation H3O+ derived from protonation of water. It is the simplest type of an oxonium ion.
