People also enjoy participating in competitive hobbies such as athletics, hockey, curling, golf, bowling and tennis.

Ein Hobby (Plural: Hobbys) oder Steckenpferd ist eine Lieblingsbeschäftigung. Ein Hobby ist somit im Gegensatz zu Arbeit eine Tätigkeit, der man sich nicht aus Notwendigkeit, sondern freiwillig und aus Interesse, Faszination oder sogar Leidenschaft unterzieht. Die Tätigkeit bringt Vergnügen, Spaß oder Lustgewinn mit sich. Dabei ist mit Arbeit nicht ausschließlich Erwerbsarbeit (Beruf) gemeint.

Może łączyć się ze zdobywaniem wiedzy w danej dziedzinie, doskonaleniem swoich umiejętności w pewnym określonym zakresie, albo też nawet z zarobkiem - głównym celem pozostaje jednak przyjemność płynąca z uprawiania hobby. Swoje hobby można komuś pokazać, wtedy uzyskamy satysfakcję z dobrze wykonanej pracy.
