Hoagie
The hoagie is a term for a lunch sandwich in a region including Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, Delaware, and sometimes parts of New York, although the term is frequently used on menus elsewhere. They are also known colloquially, depending on area as a sub (short for submarine) or a hero.A hoagie generally consists of an elongated roll (called a "hoagie roll", similar in shape to a short baguette), and a selection of cold luncheon meats and condiments:  cheeselettucetomatoonion, sweet or hot peppersoregano, and either olive oil or mayonnaise. In Philadelphia, toasted hoagies are known as 'grinders'. In Pittsburgh it's simply a "toasted hoagie".
