herbicide

A herbicide is used to kill unwanted plants. Selective herbicides kill specific targets while leaving the desired crop relatively unharmed. Some of these act by interfering with the growth of the weed and are often based on plant hormones. Herbicides used to clear waste ground are nonselective and kill all plant material with which they come into contact. Some plants produce natural herbicides, such as the genus Juglans (walnuts). They are applied in total vegetation control (TVC) programs for maintenance of highways and railroads. Smaller quantities are used in forestry, pasture systems, and management of areas set aside as wildlife habitat.

Herbizide (lat.: herba = Kraut, Gras) oder Unkrautbekämpfungsmittel sind Substanzen, die störende Pflanzen abtöten sollen. Man unterscheidet dabei zwischen selektiven Herbiziden, die gegen bestimmte Pflanzen wirken und Totalherbiziden, die gegen alle Pflanzen wirken. Während des Vietnamkrieges wurden Herbizide (insb. Agent Orange) vorgeblich auch zu militärischen Zwecken als Entlaubungsmittel verwendet.

Herbicydy (łac. herba - trawa, caedo - zabijam) - chemiczne środki służące do selektywnego niszczenia chwastów w uprawach. Ich stosowanie stanowi uzupełnienie mechanicznych zabiegów pielęgnacyjnych. Herbicydy dzielą się na:dogleboweprzedsiewne; wymagają wymieszania z glebą,przedwschodowepogłówne o działaniu dolistnymo działaniu doglebowym o działaniu dolistnym i doglebowymWiększość herbicydów to herbicydy selektywne zwalczajace określone grupy roślin a nieniszczące rośliny uprawnej. Stosuje się też nieselektywne herbicydy zawierające glifosat np. Roundup zwalczający wszystkie rośliny, dlatego może być stosowany przed założeniem plantacji roślin, a stosowany jest w celu zwalczenia uciążliwych chwastów.

I diserbanti, detti anche erbicidi, sono sostanze utilizzate per il controllo delle malerbe o piante infestanti. Gli erbicidi più comuni sono composti chimici di sintesi, spesso xenobiotici ossia chimicamente estranei, disaffini, ai composti naturalmente presenti negli esseri viventi. È in questi termini che si pone il problema dell'impatto ambientale dell'utilizzo di erbicidi in agricoltura, ma non solo: erbicidi sono impiegati per uso civile, e addirittura se ne può citare l'uso militare (vedi anche: Agente Arancio).
