Hepatitis
Hepatitis (plural hepatitides) implies injury to liver characterised by presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissueEtymologically from  ancient Greek hepar (ηπαρ) or hepato- (ηπατο-) meaning 'liver' and suffix -itis denoting 'inflammation' (c.1727). The condition can be self limiting, healing on its own or can progress to scarring of liver. Acute hepatitis is when it lasts less than 6 months and chronic hepatitis is when it persists longer. A group of viruses known as the hepatitis viruses cause most liver damages worldwide. Hepatitis can also be due to toxins (notably alcohol), other infections or from autoimmune process. It may run a subclinical course when the affected person may not feel ill. The patient becomes unwell and symptomatic when the disease impairs liver functions that include among other things, screening of harmful substances, regulation of blood composition and production of bile to help digestion.

Hépatite
L’hépatite (du grec hépar: foie) désigne toute inflammation aiguë ou chronique du foie. Les formes les plus connues étant les formes virales (notées de A à G) et alcoolique. Mais l'hépatite peut aussi être due à certains médicaments, un trouble du système immunitaire de l'organisme. L'hépatite est dite aiguë lors du contact de l'organisme avec le virus et chronique lorsqu'elle persiste au-delà de 6 mois après le début de l'infection. L'hépatite peut évoluer ou non vers une forme grave ou fulminante, une cirrhose ou un cancer.

Hepatitis
Als Hepatitis (Plural: Hepatitiden; von griech. ἧπαρ: „Leber“) wird eine Entzündung der Leber bezeichnet, für die zahlreiche Ursachen angeführt werden können. Führt eine andere, zugrundeliegende Erkrankung zu dieser Leberentzündung, wird von einer sogenannten Begleithepatitis gesprochen. Klinisch unterscheidet man nach dem Verlauf die akute von der chronischen Hepatitis.

Epatite
L'epatite è l'infiammazione del fegato, può essere dovuta a cause diverse: virus, farmaci, alcool, ecc. Molti virus possono modificare la morfologia del fegato nel contesto di infezioni che possono diventare anche di carattere sistemico. Tuttavia solo una minoranza di virus è epatotropa, cioè capace di portare come manifestazione clinica principale l'epatite. Alcuni (HAV e HEV) sono virus a trasmissione prevalentemente enterale, non cronicizzano o infezione; altri (HCV, HBV e HDV) sono virus a trasmissione prevalentemente parenterale e possono persistere nel tempo e quindi dare infezione e malattia di carattere cronico.
