helicopter

A helicopter is an aircraft which is lifted and propelled by one or more horizontal rotors, each rotor consisting of two or more rotor blades. Helicopters are classified as rotorcraft or rotary-wing aircraft to distinguish them from fixed-wing aircraft because the helicopter derives its source of lift from the rotor blades rotating around a mast. The word 'helicopter' is adapted from the French hélicoptère, coined by Gustave de Ponton d'Amecourt in 1861.

Ein Hubschrauber (vor allem in der Schweiz auch: Helikopter, abgekürzt: Heli, zu griech. hélix, Gen. hélikos „Windung, Spirale" und pterón „Flügel“; engl. helicopter) ist ein Luftfahrzeug, das durch einen oder mehrere motorisch angetriebene Drehflügel Auftrieb und Vortrieb erhält. Die Drehflügel, Rotoren genannt, wirken wie drehende Tragflächen, daher gehören Hubschrauber auch zu den Drehflüglern, im Unterschied zu den Starrflügelflugzeugen. Des Weiteren sind sie Senkrechtstarter, können also vertikal starten und landen. Nicht zu Hubschraubern werden gerechnet: Tragschrauber, Hybrid- und VTOL-Flugzeuge.

Śmigłowiec lub helikopter (gr. héliks, D. hélikos - skręcony; pterón - skrzydło) – statek powietrzny cięższy od powietrza (aerodyna), który wytwarza siłę nośną dzięki ruchowi obrotowemu wirnika lub wirników napędzanych przez silnik, a obecnie coraz częściej przez 2, a czasem nawet 3 silniki. Wirnik zbudowany jest z odpowiednio profilowanych łopat osadzonych w głowicy.

L'elicottero (dal greco "helix", elica e "pteron", ala) è un aeromobile caratterizzato da un'ala rotante che consente il decollo e l'atterraggio verticali e lo stazionamento aereo (sosta stabilizzata in un punto fisso sospeso). È stato inventato nel 1936 e rappresenta oggi la categoria di aeromobili più diffusa dopo l'aeroplano.
