Heater shield
The heater shield is a form of shield characterized by its distinctive shape. Around 1250, the heater shield was emerged as kite shields became flat-topped and more triangular. Smaller than the kite-shield, it was more manageable and could be used either mounted or on foot. From the 15th century, it evolved into highly specialized jousting equipment, while with the development of full plate armour it ceased to be employed on the battlefield.
