Hatchback is a term designating an automobile design, containing a passenger cabin with an integrated cargo space, accessed from behind the vehicle by a single, top-hinged tailgate or large flip-up window. The vehicle must have at least two rows of seats, with the rear seat able to fold down to increase cargo space.

Als Schrägheck, Fließheck oder Vollheck wird das Heck eines Personenkraftwagens bezeichnet, das unmittelbar hinter der ersten oder zweiten Sitzreihe im Gegensatz zu einem Stufenheck mit annähernd konstantem Gefälle vom Dach bis zum hinteren Abschluss der Karosserie abfällt. Ein nahezu senkrecht vom Dach zum hinteren Abschluss der Karosserie abfallendes Heck, wie es für Kombis typisch ist, wird nicht als Schrägheck, sondern als Steilheck bezeichnet.

Dacia Sandero typ zamkniętego nadwozia samochodu osobowego, o dużej tylnej pokrywie (klapie) przestrzeni bagażowej stanowiącej trzecie lub piąte drzwi. Jest to nadwozie dwubryłowe. Część bagażowa samochodu jest dostępna z zewnątrz po podniesieniu do góry tylnej klapy schodzącej z linii dachu do bagażnika. Klapa zawiera tylne okno i część tylnej ściany.

Con il nome di vetture hatchback si indica solitamente un tipo di automobile con carrozzeria a 2 volumi con portellone posteriore e coda dritta e tronca. Questo tipo di carrozzeria, nato dal tentativo di unire la funzionalità di una station wagon (da cui viene ripreso il disegno della coda), alla sportività di una berlina a 3 porte o di una coupé, ebbe largo seguito in Inghilterra a partire dalla seconda metà degli anni '60. Tale carrozzeria viene talvolta definita, nel Regno Unito, anche shooting break.
