Hangul, the Korean alphabet, is the native alphabet of the Korean language. It is a separate script from Hanja, the logographic Chinese characters which are also sometimes used to write Korean. It was created in the mid-15th century, and is now the official script of both North Korea and South Korea and is co-official in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin Province, People's Republic of China.

Le hangeul (historiquement hangûl) (ou han’gŭl, romanisation McCune-Reischauer) est un alphabet créé pour transcrire le coréen. Le but de la création de cet alphabet était de réduire le taux d'analphabétisme en Corée. Son utilisation en tant qu’écriture officielle n’a été promulguée qu'en 1894. En Corée du Nord, la même écriture s'appelle chosŏn'gŭl (조선글).

Hangul (i Sydkorea) eller chosŏn'gŭl (i Nordkorea) alternativt uriegul (både i Nord- och Sydkorea) är ett alfabetiskt (fonematiskt) skriftsystem som används för att skriva koreanska, och sedan 2009 det lilla indonesiska språket Cia-Cia. Det utmärker sig genom att grafemens utseende till stor del motiverats av fonetisk särdragsanalys. Skriftspråket används för att skriva koreanska i både Nordkorea och Sydkorea, men i vissa sammanhang kompletteras det i Sydkorea fortfarande med hanja, det vill säga inlånade kinesiska tecken.

Hangyl (koreańskie 한글) to  alfabet koreański; składa się z 24 znaków, 14 spółgłosek i 10 samogłosek. Jest jednym z niewielu alfabetów, który został stworzony sztucznie a nie wyewoluował z hieroglifów czy ideogramów, jak to się działo w przypadku większości nowoczesnych języków. Każda sylaba zapisywana jest jako blok, na polu kwadratu, składający się ze znaków alfabetu (tzw. jamo). Słowa w tym alfabecie zapisywać można poziomo lub pionowo.
