hallucinogène

Un hallucinogène est une substance chimique psychotrope qui induit des hallucinations, soit, aux doses usuelles, des altérations des perceptions, de la cohérence de la pensée et de la régularité de l'humeur, mais sans confusion mentale persistante ou troubles de la mémoire. Cet état est appelé état modifié de conscience par certains usagers ; il peut aussi être atteint par la spiritualité, la méditation ou à travers l'art.

Hallucinogenen zijn stoffen die hallucinaties opwekken. Het woord hallucineren is afgeleid van het Latijnse woord hallucinare, dat "ronddwalen in de geest" betekent. Ze worden ook wel psychedelische ("de psyche tonend"), entheogene ("het goddelijke genererend") of geestverruimende middelen genoemd. Tot deze groep behoren met name LSD, LSA, mescaline, psilocybine, dimethyltryptamine, ketamine, ibogaine, muscimol (het werkzame bestanddeel van de Vliegenzwam) en salvinorine-A (het werkzame bestanddeel van Salvia divinorum). Ook bij hoge doseringen cannabis en sommige kruiden zoals alsem kunnen hallucinaties optreden.
