Hafnium
Hafnium ( ) is a chemical element with the symbol Hf and atomic number 72. A lustrous, silvery gray, tetravalent transition metal, hafnium chemically resembles zirconium and is found in zirconium minerals. Its existence was predicted by Dmitri Mendeleev in 1869. Hafnium was the penultimate stable isotope element to be discovered (rhenium was identified two years later). Hafnium is named for Hafnia, the Latin name for "Copenhagen", where it was discovered.

Hafnium
Hafnium ist ein chemisches Element im Periodensystem der Elemente mit dem Symbol Hf und der Ordnungszahl 72. Benannt ist es nach dem lateinischen Namen der Stadt Kopenhagen, Hafnia, in der das Element entdeckt wurde. Es ist ein silbergrau glänzendes, korrosionsbeständiges Übergangsmetall der Titangruppe. Hafnium besitzt sehr ähnliche Eigenschaften wie das im Periodensystem direkt darüber gelegene Zirconium. Biologische Funktionen sind nicht bekannt, es kommt normalerweise nicht im menschlichen Organismus vor und ist nicht toxisch.

Hafnium
Hafnium är ett silvergrått metalliskt grundämne. Hafnium används i bland annat radiorör och glödlampor. Det återfinns i zirkoniummineraler. Namnet kommer av Hafnia, som är det latinska namnet för Köpenhamn, där grundämnet upptäcktes 1923 av Dirk Coster och George de Hevesy.

Hafn
Hafn (Hf, łac. hafnium) - pierwiastek chemiczny, metal przejściowy. Nazwa pochodzi od łacińskiej nazwy Kopenhagi (Hafnia), gdzie został odkryty.
Odkrywcami hafnu są György von Hevesy z Węgier i Dirk Coster z Holandii. Został odkryty w roku 1923.
Hafn występuje w przyrodzie zawsze wspólnie z bardzo podobnym do niego pod względem chemicznym cyrkonem. W związku z tym niemal niemożliwe jest wyizolowanie próbki jednego pierwiastka bez domieszki drugiego. Zawierający 2% cyrkonu hafn uważany jest za bardzo czysty, podobna tolerancja obowiązuje dla cyrkonu. Hafn występuje w skorupie ziemskiej w ilości 5,3 ppm. Jego najważniejszym minerałem jest alwit (Hf,Th,Zr)SiO4 ∙ xH2O. Węglik hafnu HfC posiada bardzo wysoką temperaturę topnienia, powyżej 3890°C, a stop węgliku hafnu i węgliku tantalu (Ta4HfC5), posiada jedną z najwyższych znanych temperaturę topnienia 4215°C (7619°F).
