Hackles
Hackles was a web comic strip created by Jen Brodzik and Drake Emko. It was published on its web page every Tuesday and Thursday for almost three years, from March 312001 to January 152004. Its plot oscillates around small local department of software developer company, unveiling many troubles of average geekOpen Source software, and Windows vs. Linux conflict. The title character is Hackles (a dog), who starts working as a programmer at BitCo. Other characters include:Preston Pigglesworth III - a pig, working as a programmer. Known to be lazy and incompetent.Peter and Percy - two penguin administrators of company LAN who swear by Linux. They are known for their vast knowledge of UNIX systems.Katrina Vittles - a feline web designerHazel Hopkins (a rabbit) - a secretary, beginning to learn to hack.Marcus the Marketing Mouse - an ultra-conservative mouse who loves everything that's proprietary, hates free and open source software.Boss Dog - boss of department where all of main characters work.VIC - humanoid robot created by Hackles from parts of old VIC-20 computer. Features artificial intelligence and "Good-Evil" switch on its back.
