grunge music

Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle Sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock that was created in the mid-1980s by bands from the American state of Washington, particularly in the Seattle area. Inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, the early grunge movement coalesced around Seattle independent record label Sub Pop. Grunge fuses elements of hardcore punk and heavy metal, and is generally characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song dynamics, and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared to other forms of rock music, and many grunge musicians were noted for their unkempt appearances and rejection of theatrics.

Grunge - styl w muzyce rockowej powstały w drugiej połowie lat 80. w USA, charakteryzujący się dość ostrym, agresywnym brzmieniem, ale zdecydowanie różnym od metalu, bardziej zbliżonym do brzmienia "tradycyjnego" punku i rocka lat 60., odrzuceniem i pogardą dla typowego sztafażu scenicznego muzyków rockowych lat 80., sztucznych brzmień elektronicznych, oraz większym zwróceniem uwagi na przekaz, jaki niesie tekst.

Il Grunge (chiamato anche Seattle Sound) è il termine con cui si designa un genere di musica rock prodotto principalmente nello stato di Washington degli Stati Uniti d'America, in particolare nella città di Seattle, a partire dalla seconda metà degli anni Ottanta. La scena di Seattle proprio in quegli anni si rivelava, infatti, una delle più fertili del panorama mondiale, producendo gruppi che mescolavano influenze estremamente eterogenee, si riconoscono come influenti principalmente l'heavy metal e il punk rock, ma anche l'hardcore punk, l'hard rock e dal'post-hardcore ed altre correnti del rock.
