Grasses, or more technically graminoids, are monocotyledonous, usually herbaceous plants with narrow leaves growing from the base. They include the "true grasses", of the Poaceae (or Gramineae) family, as well as the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae). The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Sedges include many wild marsh and grassland plants, and some cultivated ones such as water chestnut (Eleocharis dulcis) and papyrus sedge (Cyperus papyrus). Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky, vodka), pasture for livestock, thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others.

GRASS GIS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) is a free, open source geographical information system (GIS) capable of handling raster, topological vector, image processing, and graphic data.

GRASS GIS ist eine hybride, modular aufgebaute Geoinformationssystem-Software mit raster- und vektororientierten Funktionen. GRASS steht für Geographic Resources Analysis Support System, GIS für Geographical Information System.

Als Gras werden einkeimblättrige, krautige Pflanzen mit unscheinbaren Blüten und langen, schmalen Blättern bezeichnet; botanisch gehören sie zur Ordnung der Süßgrasartigen. Gras ist Lebensgrundlage vieler Tiere, insbesondere der Wiederkäuer und Einhufer. Eine geschlossene Pflanzendecke auf dem Boden verringert die flächenhafte Abtragung (Denudation) in hohem Maße, der Boden wird weniger abgetragen, es gelangen aber auch weniger Nährstoffe in die Gewässer. Gräser traten zum ersten Mal in der Kreidezeit auf, woraufhin sich das Denudationsverhalten terrestrischer Milieus stark änderte.

Założycielem zespołu był założyciel i były członek grupy Hey oraz obecnie tworzący grupę Indios Bravos gitarzysta Piotr Banach, wokalistą zaś Paweł Gawroński - Gawron. Oboje w latach osiemdziesiątych XX wieku tworzyli również zespół muzyczny grający muzykę reggae o nazwie Kryterium. Grupa zadebiutowała utworem pt. Czas spełnienia, który obecnie grywa na swoich koncertach zespół Indios Bravos.
