Grammatical case
In grammar, the case of a noun or pronoun is an inflectional form that indicates its grammatical function in a phrase, clause, or sentence. For example, a pronoun may play the role of subject ("I kicked the ball"), of object ("John kicked me"), or of possessor ("That ball is mine"). Languages such as Ancient Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit had ways of altering or inflecting nouns to mark roles which are not specially marked in English, such as the ablative case ("John kicked the ball away from the house") and the instrumental case ("John kicked the ball with his foot"). In Ancient Greek those last three words would be rendered tōi podi (τῷ ποδί), with the noun pous (πούς, foot) changing to podi to reflect the fact that John is using his foot as an instrument (any adjective modifying "foot" would also change case to match). As a language evolves, cases can merge (for instance in Ancient Greek genitive and ablative have merged as genitive), a phenomenon formally called syncretism.

Le mot cas possède plusieurs significations, il est en particulier employé :- en linguistique, un cas une forme grammaticale que peut prendre un mot et exprimant la fonction de celui-ci dans la phrase.

Cas
En grammaire, le cas est au sens large un trait grammatical principalement associé au nom, au pronom et à l'adjectif, et exprimant la fonction syntaxique de celui-ci dans la proposition ou son rapport sémantique avec le processus exprimé par le verbe.

Przypadek
Przypadek to kategoria gramatyczna głównie języków fleksyjnych, przez którą odmieniają się rzeczowniki, przymiotniki, liczebniki, zaimki, imiesłowy (określane przez to zbiorczym mianem imion), a niekiedy też czasowniki (co w języku polskim nie występuje).
System deklinacyjny jest niezbędny do ustalenia właściwych relacji poszczególnych wyrazów w zdaniu. Konsekwencją jego istnienia jest swoboda kształtowania kolejności wyrazów w zdaniu: podmiot, orzeczenie i dopełnienie nie mają raz na zawsze ustalonych miejsc, mogą następować w dowolnej kolejności.
Języki mające przypadki mają ich zwykle 4-7, zdarzają się też języki z 2 przypadkami jak bułgarski (zwykle zanikający uprzednio bogatszy system), czy też kilkunastoma (z których część powstała przez fonetyczną inkorporację uprzednio niezależnych morfemów) jak fiński lub węgierski (trzeba jednak pamiętać, że języki te, jako nieindoeuropejskie, nie są w tym zestawieniu adekwatne).
