Gräfte
Gräfte ist die westfälische Bezeichnung für einen Wassergraben, der ursprünglich einen Adelssitz zu Verteidigungszwecken umgab. In späteren Zeiten konnten Gräften Bestandteil der Gartengestaltung im Umfeld von Wasserschlössern sein.Bei einigen Adelssitzen war die Gräfte auch gleichzeitig der Mühlenteich für die Herrschaftliche Kornmühle als Bannmühle.Das ehemalige niederdeutsche Wort Graft für Graben und das niederländische Gracht sind verwandt. Man spricht vom niederdeutsch-niederländischen Wandel von ft zu cht.

Graft
Graft is een dorp in de gemeente Graft-De Rijp in de provincie Noord-Holland. Het aantal inwoners is circa 1500. Het dorp heeft enkele oude, fraaie boerderijtjes. Het raadhuis in renaissancestijl uit 1613 heeft drie trapgevels. Naast het raadhuis vindt men nog grafzerken, een restant van de 17e-eeuwse kerk die hier heeft gestaan. De graven dateren van de 16de tot de 18e eeuw. Deze kerk is in 1951 gesloopt wegens geldgebrek voor de restauratie.
