Human gonad
The gonad is the organ that makes gametes. The gonads in males are the testes and the gonads in females are the ovaries. The product, gametes, are haploid germ cells. For example, spermatozoon and egg cells are gametes. Although scientifically, the term "gonad" can refer to either male gonads (testes) or female gonads (ovaries), the vernacular, or slang, use of "gonads" (or "nads") usually only refers to the testes.

Gonade
Eine Gonade – von griech. gone (Geschlecht, Erzeugung, Same) und aden (Drüse) – deshalb auch Keim- oder Geschlechtsdrüse genannt, ist jenes Geschlechtsorgan, in dem Sexualhormone und die Keimzellen gebildet werden. Beim männlichen Geschlecht wird die Gonade als Hoden (Testis oder Orchis), beim weiblichen Geschlecht als Eierstock (Ovar) bezeichnet.

Gonade
Une gonade est un organe destiné à la reproduction (un organe reproducteur). Les gonades vont par paire ; elles jouent un rôle important au sein de l'appareil reproducteur, puisque c'est au niveau de ces organes que sont produites les cellules reproductrices :
- mâles : les spermatozoïdes, par les testicules ;
- femelles : les ovules, par les ovaires.

Gonada
Gonady to gruczoły płciowe, które spełniają funkcje generatywne, produkując komórki płciowe męskie, bądź żeńskie, a także funkcje wewnątrzwydzielnicze, produkując hormony płciowe.
Gonady męskie to jądra, produkują:
- androgeny (testosteron i inne)
- pobudzają rozwój zewnętrznych narządów płciowych męskich
- determinuje męską sylwetkę oraz owłosienie i zachowanie typu męskiego
Gonady żeńskie to jajniki, produkują:
- estrogeny (estradiol i inne)
- rozwój cech płodowych
- popęd płciowy
- regulacja cykli menstruacyjnych
- progesteron
- ostateczne przygotowanie macicy do przyjęcia blastocysty
- kontrola przebiegu ciąży
- relaksyna
- hamuje skurcze mięśni macicy
- rozluźnia spojenie łonowe w czasie porodu
