gerundic

the turning of a verb into a noun, as drinking becomes a noun in the phrase  "his drinking."  A gerundic switch in culture would take a action and turn it into a thing.  For example, the action homosexual sex becomes a thing when we speak of "homosexuality" or "homosexuals."
