Geographic coordinate system
A geographic coordinate system is a coordinate system that enables every location on the Earth to be specified by a set of numbers. The coordinates are often chosen such that one of the numbers represent vertical position, and two or three of the numbers represent horizontal position. A common choice of coordinates is latitude, longitude and elevation.

Geographische Koordinaten
Mit den geographischen Koordinaten (geographische Breite und geographische Länge) lässt sich die Lage eines Punktes auf der Erde beschreiben. Die Erde wird dabei in 360 Längengrade und 180 Breitengrade aufgeteilt.

Coordonnées géographiques
Par coordonnées géographiques (ou encore « repères géographiques ») d'un lieu, on entend la latitude, la longitude et le niveau de la mer. Pour se repérer à la surface de la planète, on peut utiliser un autre système appelé « repères cartographiques ».

Wspólrzedne geograficzne
Współrzędne geograficzne to długość i szerokość geograficzna mierzone w stopniach, minutach i sekundach. Początkiem układu współrzędnych geograficznych jest przecięcie się południka zerowego (Greenwich) z równikiem, znajdujące się na południowy zachód od wybrzeży Afryki.

Jeden stopień ( ° ) to 60 minut ( ' ), a jedna minuta to 60 sekund ( " ).

Tradycyjnie, stopnie były rozdzielane do minut (1/60 stopnia, oznaczana przez ′ albo "m") i sekund (1/60 minuty, oznaczany przez ″ albo "s"). Jest kilka formatów dla stopni, wszystkie one mają podobny porządek:

  • DMS Stopnie:Minuty:Sekundy (49° 30' 00" - 49d 30m 00s)
  • DM Stopnie:Minuty (49° 30.0' - 49d 30.0m)
  • DD Stopnie Dziesiętne (49.5000° - 49.5000d), w ogóle z 4 dziesiętnymi liczbami .
