Γένος (βιολογία)
Στη συστηματική ταξινόμηση ως Γένος ονομάζεται το σύνολο των είδων που είναι συγγενή μεταξύ τους. Για παράδειγμα η Πολική αρκούδα (Ursus maritimus) και η Καφέ αρκούδα (Ursus arctos) ανήκουν στο γένος αρκούδα Ursus).

Το σύνολο των γενών που είναι συγγενή μεταξύ τους ονομάζεται οικογένεια.

Στη επιστημονική ονομασία το Γενος δίνει την πρώτη λέξη του ονόματος, το έιδος τη δεύτερη λέξη.
