In modern speech the term gentleman (from Latin gentilis, belonging to a race or gens, and man, the Italian gentil uomo or gentiluomo, the French gentilhomme and the Portuguese homem gentil) refers to any man of good, courteous conduct. It may also refer to all men collectively, as in indications of gender-separated facilities, or as a sign of the speaker's own courtesy when addressing others.

Gentleman (Psy song)
"Gentleman" is a K-pop song by South Korean musician Psy released on April 12, 2013 (KST), serving as his 19th single. It is the follow-up to his international hit single "Gangnam Style", which at the time of "Gentleman"'s release had been viewed on YouTube over 1.5 billion times. The first public performance of the song, with its associated dance, was unveiled at 6:30 pm on April 13 at Seoul World Cup Stadium in Seoul. A poster and Twitter message was released containing the main line of the song "I'm a mother f••••• gentleman", alluding the obscured word is "fucker"; The obscured word was later revealed to be "father".

La qualification de gentilhomme (en , francisation tardive due à l'admiration portée sur les gentilshommes français), portée en France jusqu'à la fin du , était une dénomination réservée aux hommes légitimement nobles, c'est-à-dire noble d'extraction à la différence de l'anobli par ou par lettres patentes du roi, lequel est noble sans être gentilhomme mais il communique la noblesse à ses enfants, lesquels deviennent gentilshommes. Ils possédaient alors la « gentillesse », c'est-à-dire la noblesse légale.
