A gamepad (also called joypad or control pad), is a type of game controller held in two hands, where the fingers (especially thumbs) are used to provide input. Gamepads generally feature a set of action buttons handled with the right thumb and a direction controller handled with the left. The direction controller has traditionally been a four-way digital cross (also named a joypad, or alternatively a D-pad), but most modern controllers additionally (or as a substitute) feature an analog stick.

Ein Gamepad (auch Joypad) ist ein Eingabegerät für die Steuerung von Computerspielen, es handelt sich also um einen Gamecontroller; dies ist der Oberbegriff aller Eingabegeräte für Spiele und ist nicht, wie oft angenommen, synonym zu Gamepad. Dieses wird mit beiden Händen gehalten und hat in seiner einfachsten Form auf der linken Seite ein Steuerkreuz (oben, unten, links, rechts) und auf der rechten Seite eine Reihe von Aktions-Tasten. Steuerkreuz und Aktions-Tasten sind je nach Spiel unterschiedlich belegt, z. B. Springen oder Schießen. Seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre ist das Gamepad das typische Eingabegerät für Spielkonsolen, welches die vorher gebräuchlichen Joysticks ersetzte.

Une manette de jeu (gamepad ou joypad en anglais) est un terme désignant un objet que l'on branche, généralement dans une console de jeux vidéo et qui se place dans les mains du joueur. Une manette comporte divers boutons qui seront utiles pour jouer au jeu vidéo qui est dans la console. Il existe également des modèles adaptés aux ordinateurs, bien que ceux-ci utilisent les périphériques plus courants que sont le clavier et la souris.

En handkontroll är en inmatningsenhet som kopplas till antingen en dator eller ett TV-spel. Till TV-spel är handkontrollen sedan länge standarden inom inmatningsenheter. Handkontrollen består i regel av ett digitalt styrkors, minst en knapp och på senare tid även en eller två analoga styrspakar. Till skillnad från joystickar styrs handkontrollens styrkors och analoga styrspak i regel med vänster tumme.

Joypad, gamepad (czyt. dżojpad, gejmpad), pad – urządzenie sterujące używane w grach wideo i komputerowych. Standardowo jest dodawany do każdego zestawu z konsolą. Każdy producent opracowuje unikatowy dla danej konsoli model, dlatego ważne jest wybranie kontrolera odpowiedniego dla danego urządzenia.
