Sabot
Un sabot est un type de chaussures taillé dans un morceau de bois, principalement de l’orme, de l’aulne, du frêne ou du peuplier. Certains sabots n'ont que la semelle en bois, le maintien du sabot se fait avec une lanière, en cuir par exemple.

1. a clog or patten. [obs.] nor were worthy [to] unbuckle his galoche.
2. hence: an overshoe worn in wet weather.
3. a gaiter, or legging, covering the upper part of the shoe and part of the leg.
