Gallium
Gallium ( ) is a chemical element that has the symbol Ga and atomic number 31. Elemental gallium does not occur in nature, but as the gallium(III) compounds in trace amounts in bauxite and zinc ores. A soft silvery metallic poor metal, elemental gallium is a brittle solid at low temperatures. As it liquefies at temperature slightly above room temperature, it will melt in the hand. Its melting point is used as a temperature reference point. The alloy Galinstan (68.5% Ga, 21.5% In, 10% Sn) has an even lower melting point of . From its discovery in 1875 until the semiconductor era, gallium was used primarily as an agent to make low-melting alloys.

Gallium
Gallium ist ein selten vorkommendes chemisches Element mit dem Symbol Ga und der Ordnungszahl 31. Im Periodensystem steht es in der 4. Periode und ist das dritte Element der 3. Hauptgruppe (Gruppe 13) oder Borgruppe. Es ist ein silberweißes, leicht zu verflüssigendes Metall. Es kristallisiert nicht in einer der sonst häufig bei Metallen anzutreffenden Kristallstrukturen, sondern in seiner stabilsten Modifikation in einer orthorhombischen Struktur mit Gallium-Dimeren. Daneben sind noch sechs weitere Modifikationen bekannt, die sich bei speziellen Kristallisationsbedingungen oder unter hohem Druck bilden. In seinen chemischen Eigenschaften ähnelt das Metall stark dem Aluminium.

Gallium
Le gallium est un élément chimique, de symbole Ga et de numéro atomique 31. Sa température de fusion (29,76 °C) lui permet de fondre dans la main. On le trouve sous forme de trace dans le minerai de bauxite et dans les minerai de zinc.

Gallium
Gallium är ett metalliskt grundämne. Det har egenheten att det smälter nära eller vid rumstemperatur. Denna egenhet delas enbart med metallerna francium, cesium, kvicksilver och rubidium. Gallium är dock unikt på det sättet att det ändå har en hög kokpunkt. Det kan därför användas i termometrar som mäter från rumstemperatur till extrema temperaturer.

Gal
Gal (Ga, łac. gallium) to pierwiastek chemiczny z bloku p układu okresowego, o liczbie atomowej 31. Jest łatwo topliwym, srebrzystobiałym, miękkim metalem. Topi się już w temperaturze 29,76°C i trzymany w dłoni zamienia się w ciecz.
Występuje w ilościach śladowych w boksycie, kaolinicie i rudach cynku. Na skalę przemysłową uzyskuje się go z boksytu. Ciekawą własnością galu jest jego niska temperatura topnienia i wysoka temperatura wrzenia, dzięki czemu stosuje się go przy produkcji termometrów wysokotemperaturowych. Stopy galu z indem i cyną mają jeszcze niższą temperaturę topnienia (do ok. -20°C). W przeciwieństwie do rtęci, gal i jego związki nie są trujące. Powszechnie wykorzystywanym związkiem galu jest arsenek galu, będący półprzewodnikiem, mającym wiele zastosowań.
