funk

Funk is an American musical style that originated in the mid- to late-1960s when African American musicians blended soul music, soul jazz and R&B into a rhythmic, danceable new form of music. Funk de-emphasizes melody and harmony, and brings a strong rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums to the foreground. Unlike R&B and soul songs, which had many chord changes, funk songs are often based on an extended vamp on a single chord.

Funk ist der Oberbegriff für eine Spielart ursprünglich afroamerikanischer Tanzmusik, die sich Ende der 1960er aus verschiedenen Einflüssen des Soul, Rhythm and Blues und Jazz entwickelt hat, und wiederum Genres wie Disco, Hip-Hop, Rock stark geprägt oder teilweise beeinflusst hat. Wesentliche Stilmerkmale des originären Funk sind eine repetitive, stark auf die "Zwei" betonte Rhythmik, synkopische Basslinien sowie akzentuierte Bläsersätze und Rhythmusgitarre im Zusammenspiel mit Soulgesang. Oftmals wirkt der Gesang aber auch eher perkussiv als melodisch. Größere Popularität erlangte der Funk erstmals durch die Musik von James Brown und Sly Stone.

Funk - jest stylem muzycznym, powstałym w Ameryce w drugiej połowie lat sześćdziesiątych, kiedy to muzycy pochodzenia afrykańskiego połączyli muzykę soul, soul jazz, rhythm and blues, tworząc nowy, rytmiczny i energetyczny styl muzyczny wzbogacony o psychodeliczne brzmienie. W muzyce funk mniejszy nacisk kładzie się na melodię i harmonię, za to podkreśla się sekcję rytmiczną. W odróżnieniu od utworów soulowych i R'n'B, w których występuje wiele akordów, w piosenkach funkowych zwykle odgrywa się jeden akord.

Funk è un termine coniato negli Stati Uniti negli anni cinquanta, per indicare delle caratteristiche ritmiche e sonore presenti in diversi ambiti musicali. Inizialmente il termine fu usato nel jazz per indicare un approccio musicale rude e libero da sofisticazioni, legato al blues, con riff ripetitivi e con un ritmo incalzante. In seguito l' aggettivo funky fu utilizzato sempre più anche in altri ambiti musicali come il soul ed il R&B.
