Front-end and back-end
In their most general meanings, the terms front end and back end refer to the initial and the end stages of a process flow. These terms acquire more special meanings in particular areas. The general idea is that the front end is responsible for collecting input from the user, which can be in a variety of forms, and processing it in such a way that it conforms to a specification that the back end can use. The connection of the front end to the back end is a kind of
interface.

Die Begriffe Frontend und Backend (deutsch „vorderes und hinteres Ende“) werden in der
Informationstechnologie an verschiedenen Stellen in Verbindung mit einer Schichteneinteilung verwendet. Dabei ist typischerweise das Frontend näher am Benutzer, das Backend näher am System. In manchen Fällen ist diese Interpretation nicht anwendbar, es gilt aber prinzipiell, dass entsprechend dem
EVA-Prinzip das Frontend näher an der Eingabe und das Backend näher an der Verarbeitung oder Ausgabe ist.

W ogólnym rozumienu terminy front-end i back-end odnoszą się do początkowego oraz końcowego stadium pewnego procesu. Z reguły przedstawia to sytuacja gdzie front-end jest odpowiedzialny za pobieranie danych od użytkownika oraz przekazanie ich do back-enda. Następnie back-end na podstawie tych danych wykonuje określone zadanie. Opcjonalnie front-end może pokazać użytkownikowi wyniki otrzymane od back-enda.

I termini front end e back end (anche scritti, con grafia meno corretta ma più comune, frontend o front-end e backend o back-end) denotano, rispettivamente, lo stadio iniziale e lo stadio finale di un processo.Il front end, nella sua accezione più generale, è responsabile per l'acquisizione dei dati di ingresso e per la loro elaborazione con modalità conformi a specifiche predefinite e invarianti, tali da renderli utilizzabili dal back end.
