A foot (plural: feet or foot; symbol or abbreviation: ft or, sometimes, ′ – a prime) is a unit of length, in a number of different systems, including English units, Imperial units, and United States customary units. Its size can vary from system to system, but in each is around a quarter to a third of a metre. The most commonly used foot today is the international foot. There are 3 feet in a yard and 12 inches in a foot.

Ein Fuß (engl. foot, Plural feet) ist ein Längenmaß. Es ist neben der Fingerbreite, der Handbreite, der Handspanne, der Elle und dem Schritt eine der ältesten Längeneinheiten. Diese Einheiten wurden wohl schon vor der Erfindung der Schrift benutzt. Der heute übliche Englische Fuß beträgt 1 ft = 30,48 cm, was fast der Schuhgröße 46 entspricht (30,48 × 1,5 = 45,72). Ein karolingischer Fuß hatte eine durchschnittliche Länge von 33,3 cm.

Il piede (simbolo pd.) è un'unità di misura di lunghezza, di origine antropometrica, che non fa parte dello standard SI. È utilizzato nei paesi di cultura anglosassone, moltissimo negli Stati Uniti e sporadicamente in Gran Bretagna. La misura del piede anglosassone (per distinguerlo da altre unità di misura storiche, vedi sotto) è di 0,3048 m = 30,48 cm (tuttavia c'è un po' di ambivalenza su questo valore di conversione, cf. qui). Nel sistema anglosassone un piede è suddiviso in 12 pollici e rappresenta 1/3 di iarda. Inoltre viene generalmente utilizzato per indicare le quote in aeronautica e la lunghezza delle imbarcazioni a vela.
