Fish are aquatic vertebrates that are  cold-blooded, covered with scales, and equipped with two sets of paired fins and several unpaired fins. Fish are abundant in the sea and in fresh water, with species being known from mountain streams (e.g., char and gudgeon) as well as in the deepest depths of the ocean (e.g., gulpers and anglerfish). They are of tremendous importance as food for people around the world, either collected from the wild (see fishing) or farmed in much the same way as cattle or chickens (see aquaculture). Fish are also exploited for recreation, through angling and fishkeeping, and fish are commonly exhibited in public aquaria. Fish have an important role in many cultures through the ages, ranging as widely as deities and religious symbols to subjects of books and popular movies.

Fish are vertebrates with gills that live in water. The word may also apply to the fish as food or to the act of fishing, either commercially or for recreation. The fisheries industry also recognises white fish, oily fish, inkfish, and shellfish, though these are not taxonomic groups. A variety of animals that are not actually fish have the word as part of their name for etymological or commercial reasons, such as shellfish, jellyfish, cuttlefish, crawfish, and crayfish.

Dans la classification classique les poissons sont des animaux vertébrés aquatiques à sang froid, pourvus de nageoires et dont le corps est le plus souvent couvert d'écailles. On les trouve abondamment aussi bien en eau douce que dans les mers : on trouve des espèces depuis les sources de montagnes (omble de fontaine, goujon) jusqu'au plus profond des océans (grandgousier, Anoplogaster cornuta). Le milieu marin étant moins accessible aux humains, de nombreuses espèces restent encore à découvrir.

Das Festival im Stadthafen oder FiSH ist seit 2004 der Kurzfilmfestivalnachfolger des BDFA-Bundeswettbewerbs Junger Film. Es wird vom Bundesverband Deutscher Film- Autoren e.V. veranstaltet und findet jährlich seit 2004 in Rostock statt.

Fische (Pisces) sind wechselwarme, fast ausschließlich im Wasser lebende Wirbeltiere mit Kiemen. Etwa die Hälfte aller Wirbeltierarten sind Fische, die ältesten bekannten Fossilien sind rund 450 Millionen Jahre alt. Man unterscheidet Knorpelfische (Chondrichthyes), zu denen unter anderem die Haie und Rochen zählen, und Knochenfische (Osteichthyes), die alle anderen Fische umfassen. Zwei weitere Fischtaxa, die Panzerfische (Placodermi) und die Stachelhaie (Acanthodii), sind ausgestorben.

Fish, właśc. Derek William Dick (ur. 25 kwietnia 1958 w Dalkeith w Szkocji) - szkocki artysta rockowy, wokalista, kompozytor, autor tekstów i aktor. Najbardziej znany z występów z neoprogresywną grupą rockową Marillion. Miał znaczący udział w jej sukcesach jako autor tekstów oraz współkompozytor muzyki. W swej artystycznej osobowości jest często porównywany do Petera Gabriela. W 1988 Fish opuścił grupę i rozpoczął karierę solową. Zwykle nagrywa neoprogresywne w stylu, tematyczne albumy. Współpracował także z takimi muzykami jak Tony Banks, Peter Hammill i Ayreon...

Derek William Dick, più noto col nome d'arte Fish, nato nel 1958, è un cantante pop e neoprogressive scozzese. Il suo stile vocale è fortemente influenzato da Peter Gabriel. È celebre, tra l'altro, per essere stato il primo cantante dei Marillion, vera bandiera dell'ondata di new prog che negli anni ottanta ridiede vigore a un genere dominante nel decennio precedente (Yes, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Genesis) ma caduto in disgrazia a partire dal 1977 in coincidenza con l'esplosione del fenomeno punk e quindi della new wave. Con i Marillion, dopo un inizio in piccoli locali della provincia inglese e l'approdo a Londra, grazie a centinaia di show e ad una popolarità crescente (divennero una delle band di punta dello storico Marquee Club) riuscì a ottenere un contratto discografico dalla Emi e, dopo il singolo d'esordio Market Square Heroes, nel 1983 pubblicò l'album Script for a Jester's Tear. Il successo fu immediato sia tra i trentenni ancora legati alle sonorità dei grandi del decennio precedente, sia tra i giovani. Dopo Fugazi (1984), è col terzo lavoro Misplaced Childhood, del 1985, che il gruppo conobbe la fama mondiale. Si trattava di un concept album dal quale furono estratti singoli di grandissimo successo come Kayleigh e Lavender. Seguirono lunghissimi tour mondiali che iniziarono a minare la solidità del gruppo. E il successo del quarto lavoro, Clutching at Straws (1987), non bastò a garantire ai Marillion la serenità. Tanto che nel 1988, al termine dell'ennesimo tour, Fish abbandonò la band che successivamente decise di continuare con il nuovo frontman Steve Hogarth e tuttora è attiva.

La FISH (Fluorescent in situ hybridization) è una tecnica citogenetica che può essere utilizzata per rilevare e localizzare la presenza o l'assenza di specifiche sequenze di DNA nei cromosomi. Essa utilizza delle sonde a fluorescenza che si legano in modo estremamente selettivo ad alcune specifiche regioni del cromosoma. Per individuare il sito di legame tra sonda e cromosoma si utilizzano tecniche di microscopia a fluorescenza.

Appartenenti al subphylum dei vertebrati, con oltre 22.000 specie coprono quasi il 50 el totale delle specie del gruppo; i pesci (o ittiopsidi) sono animali che vivono nelle acque e respirano l'ossigeno disciolto in esse mediante branchie. Non possiedono zampe ma pinne, che permettono loro di muoversi nell'elemento fluido con particolare efficacia. Si distinguono tra i vertebrati per il lungo periodo di evoluzione (350 milioni di anni circa) che ha consentito lo sviluppo di tutte le forme attuali che si sono sviluppate e adattate ad ogni tipo di condizioni e alimentazione, specializzandosi e riempendo anche gli spazi di nicchia nei vari ambienti naturali.
