Farce
In theatre, a farce is a comedy which aims at entertaining the audience by means of unlikely, extravagant, and improbable situations, disguise and mistaken identity, verbal humour of varying degrees of sophistication, which may include word play, and a fast-paced plot whose speed usually increases, culminating in an ending which often involves an elaborate chase scene. Farces are often highly incomprehensible plot-wise (due to the large number of plot twists and random events that often occur), but viewers are encouraged not to try to follow the plot in order to avoid becoming confused and overwhelmed. Farce is also characterized by physical humor, the use of deliberate absurdity or nonsense, and broadly stylized performances. Farces have been written for the stage and film.

Farce (von französisch farce „Einlage“, von lateinisch farcire „hineinstopfen“) steht für:
- Farce (Küche), eine aus verschiedenen Zutaten bereitete Füllung für Fleisch- und Fischgerichte
- Farce (Theater), ein derbes, komisches Lustspiel, eine Posse, im Theater
- farsa, eine Sonderform der italienischen opera buffa
- eine Metapher für einen durch unangemessene Herangehensweise abgewerteten Vorgang

Eine Farce [] ist eine Komödie, die das Ziel hat, die Zuschauer durch die Darstellung von unwahrscheinlichen oder extravaganten, aber häufig denkbaren Situationen, Verkleidungen und Verwechslungen zu unterhalten. Sprachlicher Humor inklusive Wortspielen und sexueller Anspielungen und ein schnelles Tempo, das im Verlaufe des Stückes noch schneller wird, und bewusste Absurdität oder Unsinn sind ebenfalls häufig in einer Farce zu finden.

Farce (théâtre)
La farce est un genre dramatique qui a comme but de faire rire et qui a souvent des caractéristiques grossières, bouffonnes et absurdes. Elle remonte à l'Antiquité gréco-romaine. Aristophane et Plaute l'ont illustrée dans nombre de leurs œuvres.

Farsa
Farsa – odmiana komedii oparta na błahych konfliktach, karykaturze i komizmie sytuacyjnym. Przenośnie: rzecz niepoważna, niedorzeczność, głupstwo, kpina.
W średniowieczu grywana zwykle na końcu utworów o tematyce poważnej, np. moralitetów czy mirakli. Obok intermedium jeden z najważniejszych gatunków komediowych średniowiecza. Obejmuje utwory sceniczne o błahej problematyce, posługuje się środkami komizmu sytuacyjnego. W odróżnieniu od innych typów komedii farsa opiera się na dynamicznej akcji, mającej często charakter swobodnych scen komicznych.
