Escrita
A escrita é o processo de registro de caracteres através de um meio, com a intenção de formar palavras e/ou outras amplas construções de linguagem. O(s) instrumento(s) usados nesse registro, e o meio no qual o registo é feito, podem ser quase infinitos, e podem ser realizados através de qualquer instrumento capaz de produzir marcas numa superfície que os aceitará; a escrita já foi feita até mesmo num nível quase atómico. A escrita pode ser feita num grão de arroz. A durabilidade pode ser boa, mas muito volátil, como por exemplo o que se obtém ao escrever na areia. Escrever num quadro negro também representa um uso a curto prazo, uma vez que a informação ali contida é freqüentemente apagada após minutos ou horas. Formas de escrita ilegais são chamadas de grafite ou grafito.
