Eschatology (from the Greek , Eschatos meaning "last" and -logy meaning "the study of") is a part of theology and philosophy concerned with the final events in the history of the world, or the ultimate destiny of humanity, commonly referred to as the end of the world. While in mysticism the phrase metaphorically refers to the end of ordinary reality and reunion with the Divine, in many traditional religions it is taught as an actual future event prophesied in sacred texts or folklore. More broadly, eschatology may encompass related concepts such as the Messiah or Messianic Age, the end time, and the end of days.

Le mot eschatologie est composé du grec eschatos (ἔσχατος), le dernier. L'eschatologie (Discours sur la Fin des Temps) relève de la théologie et de la philosophie en lien avec les derniers temps, les derniers événements de l’histoire du monde ou l’ultime destinée du genre humain, couramment appelée la « fin du monde ». Dans de nombreuses religions, la fin du monde est un événement futur prophétisé dans les textes sacrés ou le folklore. Plus largement, l’eschatologie peut embrasser des concepts qui sont liés tels que celui de Messie ou des temps messianiques, l’après-vie et l’âme.

Eschatologie ([ɛsça-], griechisch , von  altgriech.  , „die äußersten/letzten Dinge“ und -logie) ist ein theologischer Begriff, der die Lehre von den Hoffnungen auf Vollendung des Einzelnen (individuelle Eschatologie) und der gesamten Schöpfung (universale Eschatologie) beschreibt. Früher verstand man unter ihr die Lehre von den „letzten Dingen“.

Eschatologia (z greckiego έσχατος /eschatos/ - ostatni + λόγος /logos/ - słowo, nauka): w religiach i niektórych systemach filozoficznych, dział traktujący o tzw. rzeczach ostatecznych człowieka, jak i świata (śmierci, końca świata). Eschatologia zajmuje się również życiem pośmiertnym człowieka, w którym to dusza zostanie osądzona i otrzyma karę lub nagrodę.

Eschatologie is de beschrijving of studie van een hypothetische omwenteling waarin de wereld zoals wij die kennen verdwijnt, of dit nu is door de vernietiging of de verandering ervan. Deze gebeurtenis wordt wel eens omschreven als het einde van de wereld of het einde der tijden.
