Eosinophil granulocytes, usually called eosinophils or eosinophiles (or, less commonly, acidophils), are white blood cells that are one of the immune system components responsible for combating multicellular parasites and certain infections in vertebrates. Along with mast cells, they also control mechanisms associated with allergy and asthma. They are granulocytes that develop during hematopoiesis in the bone marrow before migrating into blood.

Eosinophile Granulozyten - kurz auch Eosinophile genannt - gehören zu den Leukozyten. Sie machen etwa 1 - 5 er Zellen im Differentialblutbild aus und sind an der zellulären Immunabwehr beteiligt. Ihren Namen beziehen sie vom Farbstoff Eosin, mit dem sie angefärbt werden können. Eos (altgriechisch) bedeutet Morgenröte.

Eosinophilie oder auch Azidophilie (in der Histologie als Mitochondrienreichtum bezeichnet), ist ein medizinischer Fachausdruck für die Erhöhung der Zahl eosinophiler Granulozyten (kurz: Eosinophile) im Blutbild. Sie ist eine Sonderform der Leukozytose.

Les granulocytes éosinophiles ou polynucléaires éosinophiles (ou plus simplement « éosinophiles ») sont des cellules sanguines de la lignée blanche (ou leucocytes), ayant donc un rôle dans le système immunitaire. On les appelle polynucléaires en raison d'une erreur historique : de par le caractère lobé de leur noyau (deux lobes en général), on a longtemps cru que ces cellules possédaient plusieurs noyaux. Le qualificatif d'« éosinophile » vient aussi d'une caractéristique visible en microscopie optique : après ajout des colorants vitaux usuels, ces cellules se colorent en rouge (leurs inclusions cytoplasmiques fixent l'éosine, ils sont acidophiles). Les autres granulocytes sont les granulocytes neutrophiles et basophiles.

Eosinofiler är en typ av vita blodkroppar. Fascia är ett bindvävsskikt som omger en muskel. Suffixet it betyder inflammation. Sålunda föreligger det vid eosinofil fasciit en eosinofil inflammation av bindväv runt musklerna. I blodet är antalet eosinofiler kraftigt förhöjt. Svullnad och ömhet är vanligt i ben och armar. Långvarig behandling med kortisol är standard.

Eozynofil, granulocyt kwasochłonny, krwinka kwasochłonna, Eo – rodzaj  krwinek białych, które zawierają w cytoplazmie ziarnistości, które przy barwieniu eozyną barwią się na kolor ceglasto-czerwony. Granulocyty kwasochłonne należą do komórek układu odpornościowego, które odgrywają zasadniczą rolę w zwalczaniu pasożytów oraz reakcjach alergicznych.
