enquire

ENQUIRE was an early project (in the second half of 1980) of Tim Berners-Lee, who went on to create the World Wide Web in 1989. ENQUIRE had some of the same ideas as the Web and the Semantic Web but was different in several important ways, one of them that it was not supposed to be released to the general public. ENQUIRE was implemented on a Norsk Data machine.

ENQUIRE était un projet de la seconde moitié de 1980 de Tim Berners-Lee, qui aboutit à la création du World Wide Web en 1989. ENQUIRE – wczesny, niezrealizowany projekt hipertekstowy (ok. 1980 r.) Tima Berners-Lee, który zawierał szereg idei wdrożonych dekadę później w World Wide Web oraz niektóre pomysły Semantic Web, choć różniący się w niektórych istotnych kwestiach. Nazwa była skrótem od znanej w czasach wiktoriańskich samokształceniowej książki Enquire Within Upon Everything, którą Berners-Lee czytał w młodych latach.
