Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being characterized by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. A variety of biological, psychological, religious, and philosophical approaches have striven to define happiness and identify its sources.

Glück
Als Erfüllung menschlichen Wünschens und Strebens ist Glück ein sehr vielschichtiger Begriff, der Empfindungen vom momentanen Glücksgefühl bis zu anhaltender Glückseligkeit einschließt, aber auch als ein äußeres Geschehen begegnen kann, z. B. als glücklicher Zufall oder als eine zu Lebensglück verhelfende Schicksalswende.

Bonheur
Le bonheur (étymologiquement la bonne fortune - entendre dans "fortune" : ce qui arrive de bien ou de mal -) est un état durable de plénitude et de satisfaction, état agréable et équilibré de l'esprit et du corps, d'où la souffrance, l'inquiétude et le trouble sont absents.

Szczescie
Szczęście jest pozytywną emocją, spowodowaną doświadczeniami ocenianymi przez podmiot jako pozytywne. Psychologia wydziela w pojęciu szczęście rozbawienie i zadowolenie.
W rozważaniach o jego naturze szczęście najczęściej określane jest w dwu aspektach:
- mieć szczęście oznacza:
- sprzyjający zbieg, splot okoliczności;
- pomyślny los, fortuna, dola, traf, przypadek;
- powodzenie w realizacji celów życiowych, korzystny bilans doświadczeń życiowych

Geluk (emotie)
Geluk (of gelukkig zijn) kan gedefinieerd worden als het tevreden zijn met de huidige levensomstandigheden of met het leven zoals zich dat nu presenteert. Hierbij kunnen er diverse positieve emoties aanwezig zijn, zoals vreugde, vredigheid, ontspannenheid en vrolijkheid. Gelukkig zijn is het tegengestelde van ongelukkig zijn, wat bestaat uit een gevoel van ontevredenheid, en vaak samengaat met depressie, overspannenheid, woede of verdriet.
