Electro-industrial, also called Elektro (not to be confused with Electro, a sub-genre of hip-hop), was a musical outgrowth of the EBM and Post-industrial scene. It developed in the late 1980s and first half of the 1990s. Whereas EBM is straightforward in structure and clean production, electro-industrial became known for having a deep, layered and complex sound. Electronic Body Music, kurz EBM, seltener auch Aggrepo (Aggressive Popmusik), ist ein in den frühen 1980er Jahren entstandener Musikstil, der sich durch repetitive Sequenzerläufe, vorwiegend tanzbetonte Rhythmen, sowie klare, parolen-ähnliche Shouts (Rufgesang) kennzeichnet. Er gilt als zufallsbedingte Konfluenz britischen Industrial- und paneuropäischen Minimal-Electro-Sounds und nahm bedeutenden Einfluss auf die Entwicklung nachfolgender Stile wie New Beat oder Goa Trance.

Electronic Body Music (EBM) is een elektronisch muziekgenre dat ontstaan is in de vroege jaren 80 van de 20e eeuw. Muzikaal kenmerkt Electronic Body Music zich door een harde machinale beat, met de karakteristieke metalige snare op de 2e en 4e tel. De baslijnen zijn snel en stacatto. De sfeer is donker en grimmig, en teksten en muziek hebben tegenwoordig een agressieve masculiene uitstraling. Binnen Nederland heeft het genre voornamelijk aanhang onder industrial, gothic- en Cybergothic liefhebbers. De populariteit is de laatste jaren wereldwijd aan het groeien.

EBM (Electronic Body Music) é um gênero musical. Uma fusão do synthpop dos anos 80 com a música industrial, criando um estilo pesado e agressivo, porém amigável com as pistas de dança.Em meados dos anos 80, o grupo belga Front 242 inventa o termo EBM (eletronic body music) para explicar o som que eles faziam. A música EBM consiste (mas não exclusivamente) de timbres eletrônicos, na grande maioria das vezes sintetizados, letras agressivas, batidas distorcidas e algumas vezes autilização de instrumentos nada convencionais, como serras elétricas e furadeiras.
