Egotism is the drive to maintain and enhance favorable views of oneself, and generally features an inflated opinion of one's personal features and importance — intellectual, physical, social and other.

Egotismus
Egotismus (entlehnt dem engl. egotism, frz. égotisme) bezeichnet die übertriebene Neigung, sich selbst in den Vordergrund zu stellen. Er ist von dem Begriff Egoismus abzugrenzen.

أنانية
الأنانية أو الغرورية، هي الاعتقاد بأن المصلحة الشخصيّة الفردية هي الدافع الملائم لكلّ العمل الواعي. مما يجعل المصلحة الشخصيّة الفردية هي النهاية الصحيحة لكلّ الأعمال. ومن مظاهر الأنانية الترشيد المفرط، النكران، افتتان بالنفس، بالإضافة إلى القلق النفسي غير المنتظم، أو ميل للكلام أو الكتابة عن النفس بتبجح. الأنانية قد تقترن أيضا بإحساس مبالغ فيه عن أهميته الشخص الخاصة ونكران الآخرين. الأنانية قد قتنتج عن طريق استغلال الإيثار أو اللا عقلانية أو الجهل عند الآخرين، بالإضافة إلى استعمال القوة الممانعة و/أو الإحتيال.
