Dromon
The dromon (from Greek δρόμων, dromōn, i.e. "runner") was a type of galley and the most important warship of the Byzantine navy from the 5th to 12th centuries AD, when they were succeeded by Italian-style galleys. It was developed from the ancient liburnian, which was the mainstay of the Roman navy during the Empire.

Dromon
Un dromon (du grec δρόμων « coureur », en fait « croiseur ») est un navire long, manoeuvrant et rapide mû à la rame et employé dans l'Empire byzantin du au . Ils furent indirectement développés à partir de la trière antique et étaient propulsés à la fois par rame et par la voile.

Dromon
Wiosłowo-żaglowy okręt wojenny, używany na Morzu Śródziemnym po upadku Cesarstwa Rzymskiego przez floty Bizancjum (główny typ okrętu wojennego) i Arabów. Budowany w różnych wariantach od V do XII w. Zastąpił wcześniej używane biremy i liburny.
Pierwsze dromony miały jeden rząd wioseł i przypominały jednomasztowe liburny. Później pojawiły się dromony dwu- i trójmasztowe, z dwoma rzędami wioseł. Ich długość wynosiła 30 do 50 m, szerokość - 6 do 7 m. Na rufie były stery - jeden z każdego boku. Statki miały wydłużoną formę i były dość szybkie.
