DownTown Yorkie
DownTown Yorkie is the official mascot of the
York Revolution, who play in the
Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. He is a furry, blue creature with white eyes, a green beak, ears, and hands, and yellow hair. DownTown Yorkie wears a Revolution home jersey, white socks with red and blue stripes, a backwards Revolution cap, and blue and white sneakers. He will debut on May 15, 2007 at
Sovereign Bank Stadium in
York, Pennsylvania. DownTown Yorkie will provide Revolution fans with entertainment during games and continues to make public appearances around the city of York and the surrounding
county. His name is synonymous with the location of Sovereign Bank Stadium: downtown York. DownTown Yorkie's name is also a reference to his corporate sponsor: Downtown Inc., which hopes the name will speak of the team's goal to rejuvenate downtown York. The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball has promoted urban renewal in cities like the
Newark, New Jersey and
Camden, New Jersey. He was designed by the Raymond Entertainment Group of
Newark, Delaware, of whom also produce the primary costume of the
Phillie Phanatic and of
