Donor
A donor in general is a person who donates something voluntarily. Usually used to represent a form of pure altruism but sometimes used when the payment for a service is recognised by all parties as representing less than the value of the donation and that the motivation is altruistic. In business law, a donor is someone who is giving the gift, and a donee the person receiving the gift.

Donor
Donor (ang. donor - dawca) - w chemii to cząsteczka, pojedynczy atom lub jon, który dostarcza elektron, proton, grupę funkcyjną lub określony jon innym cząsteczkom w trakcie reakcji chemicznej. Cząsteczki przyjmujące (przeciwne donorowym) nazywane są akceptorami.
Termin ten jest zwykle stosowany razem z określeniem co jest dostarczane. Np. wg teorii Bronstedta kwasy to donory protonów, a zasady to akceptory protonów. Gdy termin ten jest używany bez określenia co jest dostarczane, zwykle w domyśle jest przyjmowane, że mowa jest o donorze elektronów.
W tym sensie mówi się o donorze w kontekście domieszkowania półprzewodników. Półprzewodniki domieszkowane donorami elektronów (nośniki większościowe) są określane jako typ n. Ich przewodnictwo elektryczne wynika z faktu występowania w nich nadmiaru elektronów, które mogą się swobodnie przemieszczać po sieci krystalicznej podobnie jak to jest w przypadku metali.

Donor
Een donor is een persoon die - bij leven of na overlijden - iets van zichzelf, van zijn lichaam, of zijn bezittingen geeft aan een andere persoon of organisatie. Zo kent men bijvoorbeeld orgaandonoren, maar ook mensen die bijvoorbeeld een schenking doen (aan een politieke partij, goed doel of vereniging en dergelijke) worden donor genoemd. De gift zelf heet een donatie.
