La palabra distrito (del
latín medieval districtus) se refiere a cada una de las demarcaciones en que se subdivide un
territorio o una
población, ya sea en forma administrativa, estadística o jurídica con la finalidad de obtener una distribución adecuada de sus servicios administrativos y organizar ordenadamente el ejercicio de su gobierno.
